Since the national government established social, preventive and mandatory isolation at the end of March, the automotive sector as a whole was one of the many non-essential items that stopped its activities at zero.

Factories, dealerships, workshops and registries had to lower their blinds in order to comply with the regulations, and for a long time, cities throughout the country reduced their traffic flow considerably.

In line with the rest of the activities, both the Secretariat of Transport and Public Works of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and the Regulatory Body of the Technical Verification of Vehicles dependent on the Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure and Public Services of the province of Buenos Aires They decided to extend the expiration dates of various mandatory procedures, including the

Vehicle Technical Verification

(VTV), one of the last activities in the sector to return to normality.

The VTV is mandatory for cars that are two years old, and for motorcycles that have completed one year since their registration.

The city of Buenos Aires was first put into operation, whose seven verification plants began to receive scheduled shifts from September.

While from November

1,

the verification plants of the province of Buenos Aires will be the ones that will return to the attention of private vehicles located in that district in order to guarantee the road safety of those who circulate and reduce the possibilities of road accidents caused due to mechanical failures.

The new schedule

In the province of Buenos Aires,

66 verification plants

are enabled

, divided into a territory of eleven zones where the vehicle technical verification service is provided under the private concession system with payment of the canon to the provincial state.

It is important to know that they are all handled with

an advance shift system

, which can be requested by the website from today (October 28).

are private vehicles and motorcycles whose permits had expired in March and April.

The official schedule establishes that in December only the verifications that had expired in May and June will have to pass through the plants, while in January the cars whose expiration has been July and August will do so, and so on until the regular schedule is reestablished.

Currently, the expiration system for VTV in the province of Buenos Aires is not stipulated by the

numerical termination of patents

, but it will begin to be implemented

as of 2021

The plants have

different forms of payment

, although to be sure it is advisable to consult the plant where you are going to attend by phone.

The VTV process in the province of Buenos Aires

is mandatory

for cars from their second year of service (from their first registration) and for motorcycles that have completed one year.

It is also important to know that there are controls on public roads carried out by VTV staff in collaboration with the Buenos Aires Police, the Prefecture, the Gendarmerie and municipal and / or provincial authorities or the Road Safety Agency.

And those who circulate without having done it may be subject to

fines ranging from $ 18,927 to $ 63,090

(300 to 1000 Fixed Units -UF- established for the price of a liter of higher octane gasoline reported by the Automóvil Club Argentino based in La Plata , and currently equivalent to

$ 63.09

).

In the VTV nine fundamental points of the vehicle are controlled.

When performing VTV there are

three possible outcomes

:

Suitable

: it is the vehicle that does not have serious or minor damages (at most observations), so you will obtain the corresponding wafer that will indicate the month and year of the next expiration.

You will also receive the verification certificate and a technical report.

Conditional

: vehicle that has had one or more minor defects (DL) that are detailed in an inspection report.

The owner or user of the vehicle will have a period of 60 calendar days to resolve the problem and re-verify

without charge

.

But in case of exceeding it, you must pay the full fee and do the verification again.

Rejected

: vehicle with one or more serious defects (DG) detailed in the inspection report, and which is not in roadworthy condition.

In this case, the problem must be solved within 60 days to carry out a re-verification that will be

free of charge

.

There is a

myth

that not all plants review the same.

However, from the Regulatory Entity they deny it and affirm that "the inspection criteria are common and VTV stations are controlled to verify that the same inspection criteria are properly applied".

Did you know that...

  • If the vehicle is not in use, it is not mandatory to carry out VTV.

    This procedure is for circulation on public roads.

  • The TV must be carried out within the month corresponding to the completion of the license plate.

    After expiration there is no grace period.

  • The request for a shift or the reservation certificate

    does not allow

    to circulate with the expired VTV.

    If he is found in these conditions on the public highway, he will be subject to sanctions.

  • There is no charge for carrying out the VTV out of term.

    The validity period counts from when you perform the verification.

  • To carry out the VTV it is necessary to present the Automotive Property Title (only the first time);

    Green Certificate or Original Blue Certificate;

    DNI, CI, or Original Driver's License;

    CUIT (if the vehicle is for commercial use);

    GNC Yellow Card (if applicable);

    and Previous Verification Report (only for reverifications)

  • Tinted windows are prohibited by law, but it is not a reason for refusal when checking (with the exception of the windshield).

    It is only notified through an observation.

    What is important to note is that passing the verification does not exempt you from being fined on public roads.

  • You can go to a different plant than the one that corresponds to the place of establishment of the vehicle.

    The only condition is that, if due to any defect the vehicle does not pass the inspection, it must be re-inspected at the same plant.

  • If a vehicle is affected by the use of a disabled person, the technical verification must not be paid.

    For this, you must present a Certificate of Disability issued by the Ministry of Health of the Nation or the Province of Buenos Aires.

    The benefit will be recognized per single unit.
