Google, behind you: Apple has recently stepped up its efforts to develop a new search engine in order to offer its users an alternative - according to a report in The Financial Times.
The move comes amid a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice against Google for violating antitrust law, as it pays Apple billions of dollars to make its search engine the default in its products.
According to the publication, the first signs of the change can be seen in the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system, iOS 14, where it now first displays its own search results after typing, whereas in the past it was done using Google's search engine.
At the same time, Apple has increased the activity of "Applebot", a scanner that collects information about sites across the network, in order to increase the database.
