Just have a look at the cell phone while driving.
To prevent this, the Dutch police are now testing new types of speed cameras.
These document two things: on the one hand the license plate number of the car, on the other hand the situation inside the vehicle.
A special camera is used for this, which takes photos via infrared.
Special recognition software is used to make this work.
However, face recognition does not take place, as this could violate data protection.

The camera takes pictures of every passing vehicle and the computer analyzes these images to find out which driver is holding a phone.
If the driver does not hold the phone, the picture will be deleted immediately.
When the driver holds or interacts with the phone, the image is sent to the police for a final manual review by an authorized officer before a fine is imposed.

Anyone caught behind the wheel with a smartphone in the Netherlands currently has to pay a fine of 240 euros.
