The European Researchers' Night is back again this year. This year 52 official events plus 3 associated ones are organized, within which a rich calendar of events is planned, in 29 countries and 388 cities, although, due to the pandemic, many will be available online (ANSA)


The European Researchers' Night is back again this year.

On November 27th, thousands of researchers and research centers from all over Europe will open the doors of their laboratories and speak to make the general public understand the beauty and importance of scientific research with live scientific experiments and demonstrations, exhibitions and guided tours, conferences and seminars information, shows and concerts.

This year 52 official events plus 3 associates are organized, within which a rich calendar of events is planned, in 29 countries and 388 cities, although, due to the pandemic, many will be accessible digitally.

In 2019 there were 55 projects, developed in 433 cities in 27 countries, with 36,000 researchers and 1.6 million visitors.

This year Italy is the country that will contribute the most this year with 7 projects (Bright night, Enr-Apulia2, MeetMetonight Ht, Net, Sharper, Society next, Superscience me) in 84 cities, followed by Spain with 6 events .

"This year the event will be virtual - explains the Minister of Research, Gaetano Manfredi -, a new format, which however allows us to reach everyone and show the contribution of Italian research".

For example, with MeetMetonight there will be events in Milan, Naples, Caserta, Padua, Brescia, Castellanza, Cremona, Edolo, Lecco, Lodi, Mantua, Monza, Sondrio, Avellino, Portici and Procida, Cassino, Frosinone, Gaeta, Ventotene, Asiago, with two days of scientific dissemination, while with Bright Night they will be concentrated in Tuscany and with Ern-Apulia2 in Puglia.

They range from virtual guided tours of the Brera Museum in Milan to medieval recipes for body and mind, from science fiction reading and dream laboratories to workshops on the world of waves organized by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv), fairy tales on the effects of El Nino or the virtual treasure hunt to save the planet.
