2020-11-29T21:55:00.675Z

The vehicle that the young man was driving outside of his service, on the night of Friday to Saturday, fell into the fire tank.

He was only 21 years old and began his military career as a non-commissioned engineer.

A young man accidentally died on the Nancy-Ochey air base on the night of Thursday to Friday, report several local media, including the Republican East.

It was about two in the morning, the night of the tragedy.

The victim and another non-commissioned officer get into a car outside of their working hours and drive on the airfield.

For reasons that remain to be determined, the vehicle ended up falling into the aerodrome fire tank, "a sort of big then," said L'Est Républicain.

Still unclear circumstances

Despite the rapid arrival of military help, supported just as quickly by the Toul and Nancy firefighters, the driver could not be saved.

His 23-year-old passenger suffers from serious fractures but his life is no longer in danger.

He was operated on at the Nancy University Hospital.

It remains to know the circumstances of this tragedy.

It will notably be a question of knowing why the two young men were driving at such a late hour on the aerodrome.

The investigation will still have to determine the reasons why control of the car was lost, in the absence of another vehicle.

"There was a lot of fog, but it is clear that determining the reason for this accident is one of the central points of the investigation", specifies to the regional daily Colonel Richard, arrived at the scene around 3 am morning.

A track could lead to excessive speed.

Blood alcohol tests were also carried out.
