Apple has approved for iDigital, which markets Apple products in Israel, to repair iPhone screens and replace them with original screens starting in January 2021, the company announced today (Wednesday).

Following the move, the company will set up and operate a repair service at the chain's branches at the beginning of the year within a few hours - and up to a maximum of 24 hours.

According to iDigital, the laboratories to be set up in nine different branches are all approved by Apple and meet the service standards it has set.

The technology giant's worldwide policy is that original spare parts are supplied by it only to official laboratories.

This means that all repairs made in the private laboratories scattered throughout the country are in non-original or used parts.

Replacing a broken screen with an original screen is very significant, since if the iPhone screen is replaced with a non-original screen or an unofficial lab, the manufacturer's warranty on the screen is void.

In addition, the Touch ID function does not work and the resistance to liquids is impaired.

"For years, Idigital has been leading the Apple experience in Israel.

Apple's new certification now allows us to make a change in the screen repair market in Israel.

"Thanks to the deployment of 18 branches and our being a licensed laboratory, we will be able to produce, for the first time in Israel, a quick option for official repair and original parts," says Ayelet Tzarfati-Rosen, CEO of Idigital.

Also, until a few years ago, Apple did not allow screens to be repaired in Israel and the company's users had the option to purchase a replacement kit that is actually a new iPhone at a reduced price, or repair in unauthorized labs.

3 years ago, Apple made it possible to repair original screens in Israel through the certification of one laboratory to which all the official laboratories in the country were required to send the iPhones that required screen replacement.

This situation created a long processing time of 5-7 days and logistical complexity that did not allow for fast service to customers.

This means that iDigital certification will bring about change.
