After the discovery of the body of a young woman on Friday morning in Alençon (Orne), her ex-companion was arrested and placed in police custody this Saturday for intentional homicide on a spouse, we learn via Ouest-France and France Bleu.
The 21-year-old man is suspected of having killed Laura Tavares, a 21-year-old hairdresser apprentice, whose body was discovered at around 11 a.m. on Friday at her home in Alençon.
He presented himself at the Alençon police station this Saturday morning accompanied by his mother, according to the prosecutor of the Republic of Alençon, François Coudert, quoted by the two local media.
"He acknowledged his involvement in Laura's death, but without giving any explanations," the prosecutor said.
The young man admitted to having used a knife and a hammer against the young woman, weapons which he claims to have got rid of.
The victim's body, when found, "showed fatal injuries," the prosecutor said on Friday.
Serious injuries
The victim, whose death dates back to Thursday, January 14, received one or more stab wounds in the side.
Very serious injuries were also present in his skull.
The suspect and the victim had separated last March, after "4 to 5 years" of relationship, according to prosecutor François Coudert.
"According to the first elements of the investigation, the young woman has never reported as a victim of domestic violence," he said.
After the discovery of the body, an investigation for intentional homicide was entrusted to the branch of the judicial police of Caen, co-seized with the police of Alençon.
It must make it possible to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
An autopsy of the body is scheduled for Monday.
