This will prevent your windshield from covering with steam on cold days (TIK TOK)

During the cold winter months, when you want to travel to a certain place, it is sometimes tempting to move your vehicle about 10 to 20 minutes before the start of the trip to warm it up in advance.

Who does not want to get in a hot car on a freezing morning?

It turns out that such a move can do more harm than good.

According to driving expert Jason, from Engineering Explained, he told Road & Track magazine how heating the engine for an extended period of time could hurt the vehicle more than help it.

Many people think that in this case the vehicle should be driven in neutral to reach the desired temperature of the engine, but the answer is generally related to the carburetor (evaporator).

In the past, vehicles with carburetors needed a few minutes of propulsion in neutral to work freely, but today the situation is different.

Nowadays, there is no evaporator in most cars as most automakers have switched to using computer-based fuel injection systems, as an efficient and cost-effective replacement for the mechanical evaporator.

Because most engines today are fuel injection engines, this means that the vehicle does not need to be propelled before driving - the engine will heat up during it without having to apply too much pressure to it beforehand and it will reach the desired temperature at which the engine will run.

As we have already said, running the engine without driving is not necessary in most vehicles, and if done for too long, it can cause engine problems.

If the vehicle overheats, the oil distribution may be damaged, and fuel may mix with the oil, breaking the oil pipes in the vehicle and increasing wear and tear.

So instead of propelling the vehicle idle, just drive.

Drive the vehicle, make sure all your windows are free of cold, ice, snow or fog and you are ready to go.

This way your engine will heat up faster, you will be able to heat up the vehicle faster and cause it less damage.
