A stream of lava gradually fills an entire lake: since its eruption on December 20, the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii has produced a steady stream of lava.
According to the responsible scientific authority, the western vent of the volcano is continuously active.
It brings liquid magma to the surface, which fills the lava lake in the Kilauea shaft crater.
The lake is now said to be over 200 meters deep.
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on earth. It has erupted 34 times since 1952. In Hawaiian mythology, Kilauea is the home of Pele, the volcano goddess and creator of the Hawaiian islands.
