23,292 new contaminations were detected in France in 24 hours, according to figures published this Friday, against 22,848 the day before.

The upward trend in hospitalizations of Covid-19 patients continued on Friday.

In total, 25,908 people are hospitalized (+173) and 1,857 new patients with Covid-19 were admitted in 24 hours, or 102 more than the day before.

The number of people in intensive care units is also increasing, from 2,876 the day before to 2,912 this Friday, including 269 more received in 24 hours (+17).

The test positivity rate continues to rise from 6.9% Thursday to 7% this Friday.

139,572 people received a dose of the vaccine on Friday.

Now 963,139 French people have been vaccinated (including people who have received at least one dose of vaccine against Covid-19), according to the VaccinTracker site.

The French government has taken new measures to prevent the spread of the new English and South African variants of Covid-19.

France will now require from Sunday European travelers a negative PCR test carried out within 72 hours before their arrival.

However, this obligation will not apply to frontier workers or to land transport.

The government is also calling on the population to ban certain fabric masks, including homemade ones, deemed to be insufficiently filtering.

The necessary safety distance, below which one can be considered in case of contact when not wearing a mask, will also drop from one to two meters.

Despite its new measures taken to try to avoid a new epidemic wave, the government no longer excludes the reconfiguration of the population.
