American actress and comedian Cloris Litchman passed away at the age of 94. Litchman's career spanned seven decades and won her countless awards.

She holds the record for most Emmy nominations, 22 in total, and until recently also held the record for single-player wins alone, until Julia Louis-Dreyfus equaled her 2017 record.

In addition, Litchman won the Academy Award as well as the FTA, Golden Globe and many more awards.



Litchman broke into the Miss America pageant in 1946, studied acting at Ilya Kazan's studio in New York and made her professional debut in 1948. Her breakthrough came more than two decades later, when she played Phyllis Lindstrom, the prying and cunning landlady of the groundbreaking comedy heroine "Mary Tyler Moore," from 1970 to 1975. Her role there earned her two Emmy Awards and a daughter series, "Phyllis." , Which aired for two more seasons.
