Instead of an action movie, it's more of a comedy. A man in the U.S. is fleeing from the police – at walking pace. The officers are more than just amused.

In an action blockbuster, one thing cannot be missing: a high-speed chase with powerful cars. In real life, however, things are not always as spectacular as in the films of the "Fast and Furious" series. Even if there are exceptions, such as a fugitive 13-year-old at the wheel of his parents' car. A case from the USA looks more like Mr. Bean wants to make off in his Mini.

In Lemay, Missouri, a 30-year-old man fled from police in his Kia Optima. But the man wasn't particularly fast. Rather, it was arguably the slowest car chase of all time. The reason: The officers tried early on to stop the Kia with nail straps. However, the driver did not think about giving up and continued his escape – despite four flat tires.

Police follow the heels of the Kia: chase at walking speed

The police, of course, stayed close to the 30-year-old, who was accompanied by a woman. And so the action movie turned into a comedy. Why shows a video that Chris Goetz, an executive of a tire store on South Broadway, shared on Facebook. In it, the officers can be seen driving behind the Optima at a snail's pace with several vehicles.

Among others, a Dodge Charger in civilian clothes, a Ford Mondeo, a Chevrolet and a Ford Explorer took part in the pursuit. However, the vehicles did not travel faster than two or three miles (three to four km/h). A policeman took the chance and waved to the onlookers. Over the loudspeakers of the patrol cars, the police also announce several times: "There is nothing to see!"

Fleeing from police: Kia driver ended up in handcuffs

Goetz had initially mistaken the chase for a funeral procession, as he revealed to the Riverfront Times. In addition, the Kia Optima had driven past the tire workshop twice. However, it is unclear why the man had tried to escape the officers.

In any case, he was not successful. About six miles away from the tire shop, the police finally put an end to the chase. The Kia driver was arrested by the officers. It is still unclear what charges will be brought against him. However, driving too fast is unlikely to be one of them.
