He was a recognized entrepreneur in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine).
Jérôme Armbruster, president of the HelloWork group, died after being hit by a motorist during the night from Friday to Saturday, indicates Ouest-France.
The fifty-year-old was crossing a lane on his bike around midnight, when he was mowed down by the driver of a car on rue de Lorient, at the entrance to the Breton city.
The motorist, who was traveling at high speed, “would have arrived at a traffic light which was red and would not have slowed down”, indicated Philippe Astruc, the public prosecutor of Rennes in Ouest-France.
The vehicle was “found empty of any occupants 200 m further,” the prosecution told Télégramme.
A suspect already known for traffic offenses
The police quickly identified the suspected driver.
This 20-year-old man, already convicted of traffic offenses, was arrested at his home around 2:40 a.m.
He was taken into custody.
The young man is accused of involuntary manslaughter, hit and run, driving without a license and driving while using drugs and under the influence of alcohol.
The victim, Jérôme Armbruster, 53, co-founded the job offer site RegionsJob.com in 2000, which became HelloWork in 2018. This group is one of the dealers in the recruitment and human resources market.
It employs 530 people, a large part of whom work at the headquarters in Rennes.
