The family will have to wait another week to get answers.

The trial of three men before the Nantes criminal court for violence against an OM supporter family at the Beaujoire stadium on September 1 was postponed on Monday afternoon.

The three men, aged 21, 49 and 56, will finally be judged on January 29, 2025. “The whole family is still very shocked, especially the 6-year-old boy.

Their state of mind is to rebuild themselves and get answers.

They will be late, but they will have them,” declared Me Étienne Boittin, lawyer for the family, civil party in the trial.

During a match played on September 1, counting for the 4th day of the Championship, a couple whose six-year-old son was wearing an OM jersey was attacked and the father had a heart attack in the stands before being taken to the hospital.

The couple had received “spitting, insults, beers thrown in their faces,” the victim’s spouse wrote on X (ex-Twitter), an account confirmed by several journalists present nearby.

The victim had been taken care of by the emergency services, she added, pointing out that some supporters even took selfies in front of the ambulance in which my husband was being resuscitated.

Yesterday was my 6 year old son's first match at La Beaujoire and everything did not go well.

Our fault: being an OM supporter and letting him wear his jersey for the match.

Defendants “professionally inserted”

The three defendants are being prosecuted for violence committed during a sporting event, aggravated by several circumstances: for having been committed in a meeting, partly with a weapon by destination and partly against a minor aged under fifteen.

They are “professionally integrated and not known to the judicial services,” said the Nantes public prosecutor, Renaud Gaudeul, in mid-January.

“My client partially recognizes the facts: he recognizes insults but not physical violence,” Mr Samy Robert, lawyer for the youngest defendant, declared before the opening of the hearing.

“He is sorry for this father, he let himself be carried away by a crowd,” he added.

These events were condemned by both clubs.
