17 musicians from the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and their bus driver just got away with the shock: Their coach burned out on Saturday evening on the A70 near Schweinfurt.

According to the police, the driver was alerted by a warning light that indicated a technical defect.

When he stopped at the Schweinfurt/Bergrheinfeld exit and let the passengers get off, the bus caught fire.

Musicians and bus drivers left the coach unharmed.

The alarmed fire brigades from Schweinfurt, Bergrheinfeld, Werneck and Grafenrheinfeld could not prevent the bus from burning out.

The musicians were returning from concerts in Switzerland and then continued their journey in two other coaches.

The fire, in which the coach was completely destroyed, is said to have caused damage of around 500,000 euros.

According to media reports, musical instruments were not destroyed, as director Marcus Axt said, because they were transported separately.

The musicians, on the other hand, are still “slightly shocked”.

The Autobahn exit Schweinfurt/Bergrheinfeld remained closed until Saturday evening to recover the coach and clean the road.
