The Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce discusses ways to enhance economic cooperation

Participants in the preparatory meeting of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce held this evening at the Ebla Al-Sham Hotel discussed ways of enhancing economic, industrial and investment cooperation and raising the level of trade exchange between Syria and Iran.

Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce Imran Sha'ban called for the establishment of joint stock companies in the various economic fields between the two chambers or the public and private sectors in both countries.

For his part, Chairman of the Iranian-Syrian Joint Chamber of Commerce Kiwan Kashefi pointed out that the Iranian delegation participating in the meeting includes representatives of committees specialized in various fields such as: electricity, construction, food industries, cement, energy export, medical and household appliances, agriculture, crops, poultry and shipping.

He called for establishing a data bank on economic activities from both countries interested in establishing relations, exchanging expertise and accelerating the pace of trade exchange between Iran and Syria.

For his part, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Dr. Atef Naddaf stressed the necessity of developing Syrian-Iranian economic relations and upgrading them to the level of strategic relations between them, calling for intensifying cooperation through the joint chamber of commerce to overcome the difficulties resulting from unilateral sanctions and coercive measures imposed on both countries.

The Minister invited Nadaf members of the joint chamber to see the government facilities provided to facilities established in the Syrian industrial cities and cities, whether by license, land or services.

He also called on the Iranian ambassador in Damascus Jawad Turkabadi to deepen cooperation between the two sides through the Joint Chamber of Commerce, stressing the existence of many areas of cooperation and interests and common interests between Iran and Syria.

In turn, the vice president of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce Fahd Darwish proposed the establishment of a joint-stock company or a Syrian-Iranian holding company that would later include various companies whose members would be from the joint chamber and a joint work program related to investments, industry and trade.

A number of members of the joint chamber talked about the difficulties that hinder the arrival of Iranian products to Syria and vice versa and the need to find a way for joint financial and banking exchange to facilitate the work of companies and events in both countries, stressing their full readiness to provide facilities for those interested from the Syrian side to establish relations in the agricultural, industrial and investment fields.

The meeting comes in preparation for the first conference of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce, which will be held tomorrow at the Ebla Cham Hotel.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to the First Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Economic Relations with Syria and Iraq, Dr. Hassan Danaee Far, and the Syrian Ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud.

Earlier in the day, the Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Advisor to the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the accompanying delegation discussed ways of developing economic cooperation and trade exchange between the two countries and the role of the Syrian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce in this field.

Nadaf stressed the keenness to provide various forms of support for joint investment and economic projects and the need to establish permanent exhibitions of Syrian industries and products in Iran and vice versa.

Nadaf reviewed the experiences of economic cooperation between Syria and Iran, such as Umm Al-Zaytoun mill in As-Suwayda, in cooperation with Iranian expertise and competencies that will be launched after the completion of the current experimental phase, equipping the Salhab Mill in Hama with the necessary supplies and equipment and studying other cooperation projects such as setting up a canning and packaging factory.

In turn, Dr. Danai Far said that many Iranian companies will participate in the 61st session of the Damascus International Fair in order to establish economic and investment projects and contribute to the reconstruction phase in Syria, noting that there is an official delegation comprising about 30 Iranian businessmen will visit Syria to participate in the exhibition and see the fields of Cooperation and projects of mutual interest.

In a statement to reporters, the Secretary of the Syrian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Al-Nahhas pointed out that two agreements have recently been concluded with Iranian businessmen and businessmen to establish two factories for the manufacture of baby milk and the second for cancer medicines, noting that the Syrian government has provided great facilities for these projects. .
