Deceased ex-VW boss: silence minutes and ligament arrest for Ferdinand Piëch

Employees of the car manufacturer VW have come together in memory of the longtime CEO Ferdinand Piëch at several locations for silence minutes.

In Wolfsburg headquarters, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hans Dieter Pötsch spoke words of remembrance, said a VW spokesman. Before the brand high-rise, large parts of the board of directors, the works council and the workforce took part. The production tapes were silent for a minute, according to the spokesman.

Even at the VW subsidiary Audi in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm there were at the same time minutes of silence, here were the bands still. Piëch had been head of Audi before his time among others. The former manager died on Sunday at the age of 82 years.

Currently the Criminal Investigation Department investigates the sudden death of the long-standing CEO. "This is an automatic, and the investigation has so far revealed nothing," said Oliver Mößner, deputy head of the district attorney Traunstein Rosenheim branch.

Piëch's body had been autopsied, Mößner said. "The autopsy is based on a natural cause of death." The corpse was then released for burial.

In such a so-called death investigation procedure, in addition to the autopsy, relatives were interviewed as well as people who were on-site. It will probably, even that is completely normal, completed in a few months.

The city of Brunswick issued a book of condolence for its honorary citizen in the foyer of the town hall. Citizens have until Friday this opportunity to document their grief with their signature.
