Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil discussed with Belarusian Minister of Industry Vitaly Fovk ways to deepen joint cooperation between the two countries in many industries and mechanisms to enhance cooperation and trade exchange between the two friendly countries on the sidelines of the 61st Damascus International Fair.
The two sides discussed during the meeting in the building of the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade facilities to be provided to facilitate trade exchange between the two countries and how to communicate continuously between the concerned in the ministry and the Embassy of Belarus in Damascus to expand the base of joint cooperation.
Al-Khalil explained that the ministry will coordinate with the Syrian-Belarusian Business Council and the Syrian private sector to initiate executive steps to develop and stimulate trade and investment cooperation. He reviewed the measures taken by the ministry to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries. That he needs in his markets.
For his part, the Belarusian Minister pointed to his country's interest in importing Syrian products of cotton, phosphates and agricultural products, which is in the common interest in developing the Syrian and Belarusian economies, calling for providing facilities for factories to supply machinery and establishing joint projects in Syria through direct and long-term contracts.
Minister Fovk explained that his visit to Syria aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields and activate the work of the Syrian-Belarusian Joint Committee and visit the Damascus International Fair in its current session, noting that Syria needs to benefit from the capabilities and expertise of Belarus in the field of heavy industries and infrastructure, especially in the reconstruction phase He stressed the importance of activating the work of the joint committee and holding its meetings periodically in addition to activating cooperation between businessmen in the two friendly countries.
