Syrian-Russian Businessmen Forum: Activating and developing joint cooperation between the two countries

DAMASCUS, (SANA) - A number of Syrian and Russian businessmen held a meeting today on the ground of the exhibition city

With the participation of a number of senior Syrian and Russian businessmen, the third meeting of Syrian-Russian businessmen was held today on the grounds of the Syrian-Russian businessmen to discuss the prospects of investment, economic and trade exchange and ways of developing it between the two countries during the activities of the fourth day of the Damascus International Fair.

Participants in the forum discussed investment, commercial, economic and agricultural opportunities in Syria, especially in the reconstruction phase, pointing to the importance of holding the forum during the exhibition activities, which will devote the strategy of Syrian-Russian cooperation and open the way for developing trade and economic relations in various sectors and fields.

The participants pointed out that the forum is an opportunity to discuss the difficulties of cooperation and work to address them, pointing to the need to find partners for Russian companies in Syria and that Syrian businessmen can get the necessary assistance to reach the Russian market and provide a platform for direct dialogue to introduce Russian businessmen to Syrian products in addition to the exchange of information. Relates to exhibitions, economic activities and investment opportunities in both countries.

Participants noted that the forum establishes stronger and deeper relations with the interests of all, expressing the aspirations and hopes of Syrian businessmen that trade relations will prevail more facilities by the Russian side.

In a statement to SANA, Director of the Local Production and Export Support and Development Authority Dr. Ibrahim Meda said that Syria has always participated in all exhibitions and forums in order to ensure the presence of its companies and products in the foreign market, considering that the forum is a strong opportunity to meet businessmen and companies in order to communicate and exchange information to develop economic relations. And trade and investment between Syria and Russia to upgrade these relations to the level of political relations.

In a similar statement, the Director General of the Russian-Syrian Business Council, Louay Youssef, stressed the necessity of boosting joint work and cooperation between the two countries, especially in the reconstruction phase in which Russian companies will receive priority to benefit from their expertise in the field of oil and gas, railways, infrastructure, electricity, heavy industries, housing, tourism and others.

In turn, the Chairman of the Syrian-Russian Business Council Jamal Qanbariyah said that the forum will result in a roadmap for possible and existing areas of cooperation between the two sides or for initiating an advanced dialogue that will facilitate coordination and cooperation between businessmen to establish real and major projects.

Abdul Hadi al-Bani, a Syrian businessman, explained that today's forum defines a real roadmap for Syria's post-war renaissance and preparations for reconstruction.

Georgi Kupzar, Director of Business Relations Development at the Russian Embassy in Damascus, said that the main objective of the forum is to give Russian investors and companies an opportunity to participate in the exhibition to get a realistic view of the situation in Syria and thus study how to develop the relationship and investment between the two parties.
