Car toll: Austrian toll company wants to get lost millions

2019-09-10T13:55:33.672Z

The Viennese company Kapsch should have implemented the car toll. But after the end of the levy Minister Scheuer announced the contracts. Company founder Kapsch announced resistance.

The listed Austrian toll specialist KapschTrafficCom does not want to accept the termination of the contracts for the German car toll. "You do not get any gratefulness in politics anyway, we're looking to get what we believe is ours," said company boss Georg Kapsch at the shareholders' meeting. Details did not mention the manager with reference to the contracts valid until the end of the month. Germany had terminated the contracts with Kapsch and the ticket marketer Eventim after the No of the European Court of Justice on the car toll.

In the German Bundestag, this termination continues to be the subject of heated debate. The opposition repeatedly demanded the resignation of Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer. She accuses him to have completed the two-billion-euro contract with the operator companies hastily. The government sees itself as a victim - and accuses the toll companies trickery. A parliamentary committee of inquiry could soon deal with the consequences of dismissal and with the demands of companies.

The compensation claim in the amount of 300 million euros mentioned in media did not want to confirm the Kapsch boss. "The values that circulate in newspapers are not ours," he said. The manager did not want to mention the costs associated with the termination of the contracts, but acknowledged that a provision of two million euros had been made in the first quarter of 2019/20.

However, the Kapsch boss does not want to keep his fingers off German contracts. "At some point in Germany, a toll will be tendered and we will then apply," said Kapsch.
