Without a boarding pass, a man at Hamburg Airport got on an airplane - and triggered a search for potentially dangerous objects. The security area of the airport was temporarily closed on Friday evening. Nothing was found, said a spokesman for the Federal Police. The man had been handed over to the police.
He not only had no boarding pass with him, but also no identity card and no hand luggage, the spokesman said. The evaluation of the surveillance videos had shown that the police-known man was properly checked at 18.30 in the security check. The man was never at risk. At first it had been assumed that he got into the plane completely without any control.
Whether the man was still in possession of a boarding pass at the ticket inspections in front of the security area and the boarding, according to the federal police remains unclear. Checking the tickets is the responsibility of the respective airline.

According to the flight schedule, many arrivals and departures were delayed significantly due to the temporary suspension. Twelve flights were canceled because of the incident and others were diverted to other airports, said an airport spokeswoman.
On the same day there had been a similar incident in Munich: A man had come in the morning unchecked in the security area. The man had gone through an alarm-protected door and not as required by the security check, informed the Federal Police. Several departures were stopped.
