The bakery chain Lila Baker is saved. The bankruptcy is over, said the company based in Pasewalk in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald. With a new corporate structure and a sufficient capital base, the bakery chain can restart.
The enterprise employs according to own data 2180 coworkers and operates 270 branches, above all in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Berlin and Brandenburg. The Lila Baker had filed for insolvency in January. At the time, the chain still had about 400 branches.
"We are glad to have survived this crisis as a company and to get a second chance," explained the Managing Director of Unser Heimatbäcker GmbH, Viola Kaluza. The majority of the jobs and branches had been saved, the company was rehabilitated and debt forgiven. After the insolvency proceedings were canceled, the management could again act independently and without restrictions.
In the future, the Lila Baker will be divided into three divisions, explained Kaluza. The Unser Heimatbäcker GmbH produces bread and rolls in Pasewalk and operates the branches. A newly founded company produces baked goods and cakes in Neubrandenburg and is responsible for business with major customers. A likewise newly founded company brings together all logistics services.
According to a report of the "Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung" from June, not least a loan guarantee from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania contributed to the rescue.
