Government support to the industrial sector, especially the textile and garment industry, has contributed to the development of its production capacity, the introduction of modern technology to keep pace with consumer tastes and changes, and to meet the growing demand for clothing that has been popular in foreign markets for its quality and variety in varieties.

Despite the impact of war conditions on the industrial sector, including ready-made clothes, the insistence of industrialists on the continuation of production was not a slogan as much as work on the ground through thousands of facilities that produce and assist in the production of clothing and fabrics provide consumers with a wide choice in terms of models, colors, quality and prices.

In a statement to SANA delegate, Mohammad Zizan, member of the board of the Damascus Chamber of Industry, said that the textile and garment industry in Syria has been able to meet the needs of the local market and access to the markets of dozens of countries in the world from Europe to Asia and Africa as well as the Arab markets.

Zizan pointed out that after the textile industry has recovered, the Federation of Chambers of Industry is working to enable it in the local market and to restore international markets through specialized exhibitions, including the Made in Syria Exhibition for Clothing and Textile, which concluded its activities today in the exhibition city.

Zizan pointed out that hundreds of businessmen, traders and exporters visited the exhibition, including about 300 businessmen from outside Syria have signed contracts and reached agreements with the participants either to market products locally or to export them to foreign markets.

SANA met with a number of owners of the garment industry and its employees from different governorates, especially from Aleppo, Damascus and Homs to monitor this diversity in production. He moved three times from one place to another, but returned to work after the maintenance of infrastructure and rehabilitation of machinery and now contributes, along with other facilities to meet the growing demand in the local market for these products despite suffering labor shortages.

In turn, Ahmed Asli from Asli Company for children's clothing products pointed out that the beginnings of the factory were in the eighties in the industrial zone of Lermon in Aleppo and most of its mechanisms were sabotaged by terrorists, but the local demand for its products was the reason for the gradual return of the factory.

Asli believes that the Syrian textile industries in Aleppo and most of the Syrian regions "are sufficient to cover the need of the local market at reasonable prices and less than similar in foreign markets and distinctive technical specifications provide a suitable alternative to the imported product."

Ahmed Rihawi of Rihawi Textile Company believes that the continuation of textile factories in production despite the war conditions and unilateral economic measures imposed on Syria confirms the strength of the Syrian industry and its competitiveness.

Yousef Al-Baik from Trequa Al-Baik pointed out that the company was founded in 2003 and is specialized in knitwear “women and men” and refers to the great competitiveness among local companies to provide a national product with high quality comparable to international products despite suffering from the old machines and technical difficulties.

For his part, Fouad Al-Salq of Al-Salak Cotton Company says that the quality of the Syrian cotton and its reputation in the local and international markets is a competitive factor that prevents the importation of its products from abroad.

Anas Kahwati of Sia Sport for Sports Wear refers to seeking to develop the company's production capabilities and open foreign markets by participating in internal and external exhibitions after achieving a good presence in the local market.
