The US Federal Reserve cut interest rates by 0.25 percentage points for the second year in a row. The rate is now in the range of 1.75 to 2.0 percent, as the Federal Reserve in Washington announced. By the end of July, the Fed had cut interest rates by 0.25 percentage points. It was the first cut since the 2008 global financial crisis.
Analysts had expected this decision. The cooling of the global economy and smoldering trade conflicts have recently caused uncertainty. Last year, the Fed raised interest rates four times.
