Digitization demands special skills and changes the way people interact with one another. The new courses of the SPIEGEL ACADEMY help to advance in the digital world of work - safe, healthy and successful.

Digitization challenges us every day. Because almost all areas of our lives are changing, continuous education is no longer an option: Who wants to be successful today, must never stop learning.

The SPIEGEL ACADEMY has made it a mission to make professionals and executives, employees and freelancers of all sectors fit for the digital world of work. Interested parties will find certificate courses on Industry 4.0, effective change management, leadership methods, entrepreneurship and much more. Today we are pleased to announce three new courses that you can start weekly.

Data is increasingly becoming the most important raw material of our economy. Modern business models barely manage without a large amount of sensitive data: data about suppliers, about users and customers, about employees. It is the duty of the Data Protection Officer to ensure that this data is kept secure and processed responsibly.

"The more digital society becomes, the more important data protection becomes," says Patrick Beuth, network world editor at SPIEGEL ONLINE. "But that also means that data protection officers need a solid knowledge base - because they will always have to rebuild it."

The certificate course "Data Protection Officer" is aimed at freelancers, specialists and executives who take responsibility for data protection or who wish to officially qualify as data protection officers. Here you get an insight into the basics of the DSGVO, get to know the tasks and powers of data protection officers and learn what rights those involved in the case of legal violations have.

Healthy leadership and employee motivation

Low absenteeism, low turnover, a pleasant working atmosphere and high productivity - these are just a few of the features of a healthy department. Necessary for this is always the right leadership. Because only a leader who cleverly deals with resources, motivates properly and skilfully minimizes stress factors can also make the most of a team.

But good leadership also means not losing sight of one's own health. In the words of Maren Hoffmann, editor at manager-magazin.de: "If you want to create a healthy corporate culture, you must set a good example - and create inviting conditions for others."

In this course, leaders learn to balance economic success and employee health. Anyone who still wants to take on responsibility for staff will use this training measure to increase their chances of getting a leadership position. And HR developers and coaches strengthen their negotiating position by learning to look at organizational health from the perspective of superiors.

Psychology digital

Chat conversations are different than conversations in the break room; a text on a website is read differently than an article in a journal; and teamwork on an online platform works according to different patterns than when all participants come together at the round table. In short, digital space is writing its own laws.

Companies that want to continue their success must find new ways of dealing with the changed circumstances - be it in the organization of work processes, in recruiting or in the marketing context. A key role plays the question of what influence the digital space has on psychology.

In the certificate course "Psychology digital" you will learn to better assess the behavior of people in the digital context. Key topics here are the psychology of the digital workplace, digital market research and online marketing, as well as the handling of big data and artificial intelligence. In particular, this course is suitable for professionals in the areas of human resources, healthcare and marketing, for coaches and consultants as well as anyone who would like to understand why people on the Internet behave differently than in the analog world.

Studying at the SPIEGEL ACADEMY

At the SPIEGEL AKADEMIE, you will learn in distance learning: The courses are designed for six months and can be started at any time. Where, when and how quickly you learn, you can adapt to your personal needs.

The courses will be moderated by one professor each from our cooperation partner, the SRH-Fernhochschule, and a SPIEGEL expert who will supplement the scientific content with video and podcast tutorials as well as topic dossiers. The result is a unique offer in which broad theoretical knowledge, many years of teaching experience and practical, digital expertise complement each other perfectly.

The courses of the SPIEGEL AKADEMIE are scientifically founded and approved by the state: In addition to the certificate of completion, you will receive ECTS credits, which can be credited towards a later degree - in the whole of Europe. And best of all, training such as this can easily be deducted from the tax.

Further information about the courses can be found here.
