A Japanese court has acquitted three former managers of power plant operator Tepco. The prosecutors had accused them of negligence in connection with the GAU of the nuclear power plant Fukushima.
Eight and a half years after the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, three former top managers of the responsible power plant operator Tepco have been acquitted in a criminal case. The Tokyo District Court found the former managers not guilty, as Japanese media reported on Thursday.

The prosecutors accused the three men of ignoring existing information about a possible strong tsunami and refraining from necessary security measures. The prosecutors had demanded imprisonment. The defendants had declared that the tsunami was unpredictable. At the Fukushima Daiichi power plant, the GAU came on March 11, 2011 as a result of a huge tsunami.
