Turkish consumer confidence fell this month at a time when the country's economy is deteriorating further as a result of the policies of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which led to the flight of investors and the decline in tourism revenues and the devaluation of the Turkish currency.
Turkish consumer confidence fell from 58.3 points in August to 55.8 points in September, the Turkish Statistics Institute said.
The index hit its lowest level in May at 55.3 points since data began to be published in 2004.
The index predicts an optimistic economic outlook when it surpasses 100 and a downbeat outlook.
