2019-09-24T13:34:36.290Z

According to VW, Audi, Porsche and Bosch, Daimler is now also being charged with a fine according to SPIEGEL information. The investigation against employees, however, pull out.

The prosecutor Stuttgart wants to impose a fine on Daimler because of rigged diesel cars shortly. According to SPIEGEL information, the car company to pay between 800 million and one billion euros.

The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) had detected a number of illegal defeat devices in the software, including models of the E- and C-Class, and ordered recalls. In the view of the Flensburg inspectors, the software ensured that the exhaust gases on the test bench were cleaned much more efficiently than on the road. Daimler continues to argue that the method is legal.

The prosecutor investigates Daimler employees for suspected fraud and conducts an administrative offense against the company. The regulations provide for sums of up to € 5,000 per car involved. 280,000 cars were recalled in Germany. However, the KBA determined further suspected cases at Daimler, which is why one has not expected in the Federal Ministry of Transport with a determination of the fine sum.

According to SPIEGEL information, the decision should come in September or October. The prosecution said the trial should be completed by the end of the year. A conclusion of the criminal investigations against Daimler employees is not to be expected this year. The investigations drag on, partly because Daimler has long been legally against the evaluation of the seized data. On the penalty payments, a spokesman said that one could "not comment on ongoing investigations."

In July, Daimler reported a loss of € 1.6 billion for the second quarter, which was partly due to the need to increase risk provisioning for impending fines in connection with the diesel affair.
