Data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute revealed that the trade deficit in Turkey rose last August to 2.5 billion dollars year on year.
Turkey's foreign trade deficit rose 1.2 percent to $ 2.5 billion, with imports reaching $ 15.02 billion, up 1.5 percent from August 2018, Reuters reported.
Turkey's industrial production fell 3.9 percent in June, the institute said last month, marking the 10th consecutive month of decline.
The economic crisis in Turkey is escalating to an unprecedented extent because of the policies of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which reflected on the country's public budget through a trade deficit and the devaluation of the lira significantly.
