The British bank HSBC is according to a media report before drastic job cuts. In addition, up to 10,000 jobs could be eliminated, according to the Financial Times, citing two insiders. A final decision had not yet fallen.
Especially Europe could be affected by the deletions according to the insiders. So the question arises for the bank of why it employs so many people in Europe, while parts of Asia achieved double-digit returns, one of them said. Affected by the report could be high-paying jobs. HSBC did not want to comment on the report to the Financial Times.
The bank currently employs about 238,000 people worldwide. Only in August, the then boss John Flint came back surprisingly and the bank announced to want to delete more than 4000 jobs. Since then, former head of global deposit and lending business, Noel Quinn, has been leading the business for the time being.
