Gold prices retreated today as traders were reluctant to make big bets in the absence of any new developments in the trade war between China and America and the Brexit negotiations.

Spot gold fell 0.1 percent to $ 1,488.35 an ounce and US futures fell 0.1 percent to $ 1492, Reuters reported.

For other precious metals, silver prices fell 0.3 percent to $ 17.33 an ounce, while platinum rose 0.3 percent to $ 885.54 and palladium hit a record high of $ 1782.60 an ounce.
