The FNSEA and the JA call for new rallies, Tuesday, October 22, 2019, from 9 am to 12 pm against agri-bashing, anti-pesticide orders and draft free trade agreements.

Farmers will again raise their voices, Tuesday, October 22, 2019, in front of the prefectures in many areas of France, at the call of the FNSEA and the Young Farmers Union (JA).

"Permanent stigmatization, insurmountable distortions of competition, unfair trade agreements, revenues at half-mast: more than 10 000 farmers shouted a cry of distress on the roads of France last October 8 in order to challenge the President of the Republic and his government. We have received no response from them , " lamented the two unions in a joint statement released Friday, October 18.

Tuesday morning, in front of the prefectures

After blockading the roads on October 8, farmers still plan some snail operations, but mostly gatherings in prefectures.

"The President of the Republic owes us answers. We will be able to make ourselves heard by actions towards the prefectures of all the departments between 9 am and 12 pm , write the organizers.

Actions are already planned in about 40 departments in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Brittany, Center, Grand-Est, New Aquitaine, Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions. . The list could be extended by Monday, when the organizers must refine the scale of the mobilization.

A long list of topics of discontent

Among the latest standards considered, pesticide non-treatment areas (ZNT) have set fire to the powders. But there is a lot of discontent for farmers, between the draft EU-Canada (Ceta) or EU-Mercosur Free Trade Agreements, the intrusions of antispecies activists on farms, and more broadly the feeling of a denigration of growing in their profession and their practices ( "agri-bashing" ).

Added to this Friday are additional US taxes on French wines and cheeses.

Farmers feel degraded

"We will demonstrate against agri-bashing, the denigration of agriculture everywhere and around the world, anti-pesticide orders, threats on the GNR" , non-road diesel with reduced taxation, said Pierre Ninville, animator at the winegrowers' union of Aude.

"In the Aude, we are a wine department but (in addition to all the other problems already mentioned) the US tax will impact the exports. The fear is that in 3 to 5 years, the vine growers can not work anymore. They will eventually die slowly. We want to wash whiter than white [by transposing the European directives] while we are the best farmers in the world, " he added.

He made an appointment Tuesday at 10:30 in front of the prefecture of Aude, Carcassonne.
