Listeria had been detected several times in Wilke meat. The germs can be life-threatening for people with weakened immune systems. The public prosecutor Kassel investigates against the Wilke managing director because of negligent killing.
According to the district, these are goods that remained in the company's storerooms after closing. To keep the food from spoiling, the agency had ensured that the company's cold stores continued to be powered. Disposal takes place under the supervision of the Veterinary Office. 20 employees of the company have therefore agreed to help.
