Social security: Bundestag decides law for the protection of Paketboten

Many parcel carriers employed by subcontractors will be better off in the future. The corresponding law found a large majority in the Bundestag.

The Bundestag has passed a law to better protect parcel couriers. This should put a stop to the exploitation of suppliers.

The law of Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) is to ensure that social contributions are paid correctly. For this purpose, the so-called subcontractor liability in the parcel sector is introduced.

Subcontracting law for deliverersSo courier should be protected from exploitation

The mail order companies should be liable for this, if subcontractors do not pay any social contributions. This should lead to parcel carriers being socially secured, where this is not yet the case.

Many parcel deliverers are employed by subcontractors who are under criticism for poor pay as well as labor law violations. For example, it is criticized that companies are not paying social security contributions. The Bundestag passed the law with the votes of the Union, SPD, Left and Greens.
