Easterbrook joined McDonald's' UK in 1993 and became the leader of the UK and later the Northern Europe market. In 2011 he left the company and headed PizzaExpress, then Wagamama. In 2013 he returned to McDonald's. He has been at the top of the fast food chain since 2015. Easterbrook is divorced and father of three children.
His successor at McDonald's is according to the company Christopher "Chris" Kempczinski, who since 2017, the US business with about 14,000 stores was responsible.
