Collective employees will receive an average of 2632 euros Christmas bonus this year, as the Federal Statistical Office announced on Monday. Thus, the special payment is 1.9 percent higher than in 2018.
In western Germany, the Christmas bonus is on average 2644 euros 3.8 percent higher than in East Germany with 2547 euros.
In total, around 87 percent, almost nine out of ten employees, receive the bonus - as they did last year. In a sector comparison, salaried employees in the field of "extraction of crude oil and natural gas" lead the ranking list with an average of € 5,780 Christmas bonus in 2019. Also clearly above the average, according to the statisticians, the collectively agreed Christmas bonus at the broadcasters amounts to 5274 euros and in the area "energy supply" with 4923 euros.
The lowest Christmas bonus will be paid to collective wage workers in the field of "placement and transfer of workers" with an average of € 318, followed by the areas "Agriculture, Hunting and related activities" with € 492 and "Security and Security Services and detective agencies" with € 510.
