Chinese President Xi Jinping has vowed to further open up the Chinese economy and called on the world to demolish walls.

"China will further facilitate foreign market access and reduce the negative list," Xi was quoted as saying in a speech at the opening ceremony of the Second China International Import Fair.

Xi pledged to improve the business environment to make it more international and market-oriented, calling in this regard the international community to demolish walls rather than build them, firmly reject protectionism and unilateralism and constantly alleviate trade barriers, and called for participation in building an open, cooperative and creative global economy.

Xi said his country will adopt five measures to promote openness at a higher level, namely to further expand market openness, improve the opening-up framework, further improve the business environment, further deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation and jointly build the belt and road.

China, which is expected to have brighter economic development prospects, will provide other countries with more opportunities in terms of market, investment and growth, Xi said.

The Chinese president expressed hope that a regional trade agreement backed by China would be signed soon, adding that his country would be happy to reach free trade agreements with other countries. Officials would speed up negotiations on an investment agreement with the EU as well as another with Japan and South Korea.

For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron said in his statements during the opening of the exhibition that the trade war between the United States and China "create only losing parties" and negatively affect global growth, expressing the hope that the two economic powers will be able to reach an agreement that preserves the interests of trade partners Others led by the European Union.

Macron also condemned unilateral steps and the use of cartoons as a weapon without directly calling US President Donald Trump.
