2019-11-11T13:55:51.480Z

The SPIEGEL style magazine asks celebrities to provide pictorial answers during the interview. In the latest issue: Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, who has dressed both the Pope and Madonna.

In 1968, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac designed the first collection for his mother's company - at the age of 19. This was followed by an own label and outfits for artists like the Sex Pistols, Andy Warhol, Elton John or Lady Gaga. Even Pope John Paul II dressed the former monastic student for World Youth Day 1997 in Paris.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's answers

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

What are you worried about?

Your favorite garment?

What ability would you like?

Which of your body parts do you like the most?

Where do you find your peace?

Who was your role model as a child?

The best, since you have ever designed?

What makes you happy?

His famous rainbow color games are currently on display in cooperation with the French swimwear brand Vilebrequin and in the collection of the Italian chain Benetton, whose creative director has been the couturier since this year. In November, the Frenchman celebrates his 70th birthday.
