The meeting of Iran's Supreme Council for Economic Coordination, chaired by President Hassan Rouhani, stressed the necessity of cooperation of the three executive, judicial and legislative authorities in order to implement the decision to ration gasoline.

The three authorities explained during the meeting of the Council, according to the Iranian Fars News Agency that the goal of the plan "to create social justice for 60 million low-income Iranians and combat fuel smuggling and reduce corruption and fuel consumption management," stressing that the financial revenues resulting from the decision will be paid to vulnerable segments since next week .

The three Iranian authorities indicated that the judiciary will cooperate fully to implement the plan, calling on all government agencies to cooperate to make it successful.

The National Iranian Company for the distribution of oil derivatives raised the prices of gasoline starting at dawn yesterday by 50 percent to the quota of 60 liters per month and by 300 percent outside the monthly quota and Iranian Oil Minister Begin Zangana said that the decision to adjust the price of gasoline will be in the interest of low-income middle and poor Society will not spend its proceeds for otherwise.

In addition, Iranian Attorney General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri stressed that the judiciary will firmly confront those who violate security, public order and the stability of the people.

Montazeri said in a statement today following the riots in some areas under the pretext of high gasoline prices that "the decision to adjust the value of gasoline was made on the basis of the law and the opinion of experts," explaining that "some insecure individuals exploited the current circumstances to cause disturbances and cause problems in public order." .

Montazeri said, "I definitely stress that our people will separate themselves from the very few anarchists who have proven their opposition to the state and the programs of the people, and our people condemn such practices and do not allow this group to exploit the situation."

Montazeri added that according to the law, these chaotic acts are considered a crime and the internal security forces believe that it is their duty according to the laws to confront those who violate public order, pointing out that confronting the violators will be done with the cooperation of the internal security forces and the vigilance of the people.The judiciary will firmly confront any breach of public order or undermine the stability of the people.

The developments came after several Iranian cities witnessed protests against the government's decision to regulate the distribution of fuel.Mehr news agency reported today that a number of citizens gathered in some cities, including Mashhad, Shiraz, Sirjan, Kerman and Ahvaz and chanted slogans condemning the decision of the government.

In turn, Iranian television reported that some demonstrators in some cities took advantage of the protests and damaged public places and property, explaining that the foreign media seeks to exaggerate the events and show that the situation in all cities is marred by violence.

The television pointed out that the police fired tear gas to confront these gatherings after being used by some to disturb public order.
