Sudan and ACSAD agree to implement joint rainwater harvesting project

The Minister of Irrigation in the Republic of Sudan, Dr. Yasser Abbas agreed with the Director of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) Dr. Rafik Ali Saleh on the implementation of a joint project to harvest rain water under which 5 water dams will be established distributed in several areas.

During the meeting in Khartoum, the two sides stressed the importance of scientific applied management to invest the available surface and groundwater resources in some states of Sudan and benefit from rainwater harvesting technologies to improve the life of Sudanese farmers.

The Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries in Sudan, Dr. Alamuddin Abdullah Absher, discussed with ACSAD the possibilities of cooperation between the two sides to develop the animal wealth sector, especially in the field of artificial insemination of sheep and goats and the training of technicians on the application of this technology. Sudan.

On Saturday, ACSAD organized a scientific symposium in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Republic of Sudan to discuss the first phase of the project "Map of the Optimum Uses of 100 Million Hectares of Sudan", which is implemented by FAO in cooperation with Sudanese authorities concerned in the fields of agriculture and irrigation.
