The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has received a billion-dollar order from the Arabian airline Emirates. Representatives of both companies signed an order for over 50 A350 jets, as announced at the Dubai Air Show.
Back in February, Emirates signed a preliminary contract for 30 A350 aircraft and 40 A330neo aircraft in return for the cancellation of numerous A380s. The A350 order is now even larger, on the A330neo is still spoken, it said. The same applies to a possible order of "Dreamliner" models of the US manufacturer Boeing.
The A350 jets are powered by engines of the British manufacturer Rolls-Royce. According to the price list, the Airbus order has a total value of around 16 billion dollars (14.5 billion euros). However, high discounts are common in this business.
Emirates is one of the largest airlines in the world and the largest customer of the world's largest passenger aircraft Airbus A380. Currently, more than 100 of these giant jets are in the Emirates fleet. However, after the airline canceled part of its orders in February, Airbus decided to stop building the model in 2021 for lack of other contracts.
