No comprehensive agreement in the wage dispute: The last week announced great arbitration between Lufthansa and UFO has failed. Are there any new strikes?

Lufthansa and the cabin crew UFO unanimously announced that there would be no major arbitration. A Lufthansa spokesman justified this by stating that the union had "no commitments to peace". On the other hand spoke a UFO spokesman of "extortion" by the Lufthansa, which had demanded "without further consideration" a complete strike waiver also with the four Lufthansa daughters.

But both sides are still in the conciliation process - but should turn only to the specific points, had struck for the UFO. Among other things, the flight attendants union demanded more expenses and allowances for the flight attendants as well as the possibility of changing seasonal workers to regular employment.

In early November, UFO had launched a two-day strike over a collective bargaining dispute. Lufthansa canceled around 1,500 main-brand flights, affecting about 200,000 passengers. The union had threatened in the event of failure of the probe new strikes in various Lufthansa operations.

New strikes?

A UFO spokesman pointed out that for the four Lufthansa subsidiaries no peace obligation applies and therefore strikes were again possible. But this must be considered. However, UFO was always ready to negotiate extensive peace obligations with the respective management of the subsidiaries. In the Lufthansa itself, the cabin is in the peace obligation, but still justified in a well-regulated framework to warning strikes.
