The work of the Syrian-DPRK joint economic committee started in its eleventh session today at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus with the aim of developing economic cooperation between the two countries and discussing memoranda of understanding and agreements that will be concluded between the two sides.

In a speech during the meeting, Minister of Finance Dr. Mamoun Hamdan, Chairman of the Committee, called on the Syrian side to intensify efforts to reach agreements and understandings on projects that are in the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

Minister Hamdan pointed out that Syria is working to rebuild and build what was destroyed by the terrorist war and that it will be a priority to contribute to the reconstruction phase of friendly countries that stood by Syria and supported its just causes, including the Democratic Republic of Korea.

For his part, Minister of Foreign Economy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Jie, head of the committee from the Korean side, affirmed that his country attaches great importance to the meetings of the joint committee, which represents an important occasion to show the will and determination of the two countries to develop economic relations in line with the distinguished political relations between them.

Yongjie pointed out that his country will continue to do its utmost to support and support Syria in order to achieve the ultimate victory against terrorism.

In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Finance pointed out that during the technical meetings, the two sides will discuss a number of agreements, especially economic, pointing to common concerns in several areas, including housing and public construction.

In a similar statement, the DPRK leader, Yong Jae, expressed his confidence that the two sides reached great successes as a result of the meetings, which contribute to concluding many cooperation agreements, explaining that the only way to confront the economic pressures that the United States exerts on the two countries is self-reliance, achieving development, and enhancing cooperation.

Technical meetings between the two sides begin tomorrow morning, during which a number of areas of cooperation will be discussed and will continue for three days, followed by next Wednesday the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding reached by the two sides.

The meeting was attended by the deputy head of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, the relevant managers in the ministries of finance, economy, foreign trade and industry, the assistant director of the Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and members of the accompanying Korean delegation.
