The UFO cabin union is preparing a strike over the next few days at Lufthansa. This emerges from information to the union members, which is available to the dpa news agency.
Ufo wants to provide information on the concrete times of the strike call on Friday at 5 p.m. on the union's YouTube channel. UFO spokesman Nicoley Baublies told the dpa that the strike should take place later this year.
The union informed its members that there had been further attempts by the mediators over the Christmas holidays to find short-term solutions. These attempts were unsuccessful. Lufthansa initially did not want to comment.
Before Christmas, the two arbitrators - the former head of the employment agency, Frank-Jürgen Weise, and the former Brandenburg Prime Minister Matthias Platzeck (SPD) - had invited the bargaining parties, which had been at odds for months, to another preliminary arbitration meeting. The exact scope of the topics should be determined.
Mutual distrust stands in the way of agreement
In the conflict there has already been a warning strike at four Lufthansa subsidiaries and a two-day strike at the core company Lufthansa. Around 1,500 flights with around 200,000 affected passengers were canceled here in November.
Both sides emphasize again and again to strive for the broadest possible agreement on a variety of tariff topics. The basics had already been agreed bilaterally in November, but then, due to mutual distrust, they hadn't come together.
In the meantime, Lufthansa personnel manager Bettina Volkens was recalled, who stood for a more moderate course with the UFO. Among other things, the union demands the rescission of dismissals and lawsuits against former and current board members and a resolution of the violent conflict of the past months.
