Director of the General Organization for Railways Branch of Homs, Eng. Mohsen Mahmoud Bain, in a statement to SANA correspondent, said that work is continuing on the project at a high rate to put it into service as soon as possible and currently, the percentage of completion of work at the loading station near Hasya quarries has reached 90 percent, as in the railway branch The lower section ”between Qataina and the loading station of earthworks and industrial works 85 percent.
He pointed out that the executing parties for the project are the General Company for Roads and Bridges in Homs, which carries out a portion of the required earthwork and industrial work with a length of 9550 meters with a total value estimated at about one billion and twenty-four million pounds besides the General Company for Building and Construction in Homs, which also implements part of the path along 7150 meters with a total value of one billion five hundred million pounds
He explained that the General Company for Railways Construction supplies and identifies materials and assembles stairs and brushes for the site at a total cost of 230 million pounds, in addition to the Foundation’s branch in Homs securing the necessary materials for the extension work.
He pointed out that the aim of the project is to transfer materials with good specifications from Hasia quarries in Homs governorate to coastal cities after a decision was taken to close quarries in these cities to preserve the environment and prevent further depletion of forest resources in these areas in addition to reducing pressure On the road networks, transportation costs and providing fuel consumption for the same quantities transported by truck cars, stressing that the whole project has been studied and implemented by experienced national cadres despite the many difficulties encountered during implementation.
