Oil prices rose today following news that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is studying greater production cuts to counter a possible decline in global demand for crude.
Reuters reported that Brent crude, the world benchmark, rose 31 cents, or 0.6 percent, to $ 54.27 a barrel.
US West Texas Intermediate crude futures increased 21 cents, or 0.4 percent, to $ 49.82 a barrel.
