BMW Brilliance Automotive Industry Corporation has announced the resumption of its activities and projects in Shenyang, northeast China.
Xinhua quoted (BMW Brilliance) as saying in a statement today that "about 20,000 employees of the company have returned to their work" and that "it is expected that production will be fully resumed in the company's subsidiaries today after making the necessary equipment to prevent and control the new Corona virus."
BMW, a joint venture between BMW and China's Huachen Auto Group, has invested more than 52 billion yuan, equivalent to about 7.5 billion US dollars, in Shenyang, and has finished building two auto factories, a power plant and a research and development center.
China has become the largest market for BMW car sales in the world, with sales exceeding 720,000 cars in 2019.
