The National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) reported on Tuesday that the prices of the Basic Food Basket (CBA) advanced 5.7% in January compared to last December and its interannual variation amounted to 55.8 percent.
According to official data, the monthly jump was the highest since last November, when the values of the CBA advanced 6.3%.
Meanwhile, the variation of the total basic basket (CBT) was 3.6% and the progress of this indicator compared to January 2019 was 52.7% respectively.
With these data, Indec concluded that "a family of four members needed $ 40,373.01 to exceed the poverty line in January 2020"
The evolution in 2019
The cost of the products that make up the (CBA) rose 52.8%, on average, throughout 2019, which determined that a family consisting of two adults and two minor children needed income of $ 15,584.14 to avoid falling In destitution.
Meanwhile, the cost of the Total Basic Basket (CBT) also rose 52.8% over the past year, which meant that a family needed to reach income of $ 38,960.33 in order not to fall below the poverty line.
