Airbus announced Wednesday, February 19, its intention to cut more than 2,300 positions in its defense and space activities due to the slowdown in its order book and the postponement of several contracts.

The project presented to Airbus Defense & Space staff representatives provides for the loss of a total of 2,362 jobs by 2021, including 829 in Germany, 357 in the United Kingdom, 630 in Spain and 404 in France.
The group explains that these measures are necessary " mainly due to the sluggishness of the space market and the postponement of several defense contracts ".
The German Air Force refused in particular last year to take delivery of two copies of the large military aircraft A400M, which is experiencing recurring technical problems.

Airbus Defense & Space, a division formed in 2014, employs 34,000 people including 13,000 in Germany and generates around 20% of the Airbus group's total turnover.
