Here are revelations that should speak in the aisles of the Agricultural Show, which opens its doors on Saturday and will be held until March 1 at the Porte de Versailles (Paris XV). This Wednesday, Mediapart revealed the generous remuneration of the leaders of the FNSEA, the first agricultural union in France. And we discover that several of them earn around 120,000 euros gross per year, more than a salary as a minister in the government of Edouard Philippe, whose organization has been vilifying for weeks the decision to fix distances minimum from homes for pesticide use.

According to Mediapart, the general director of the FNSEA, Clément Faurax, "today emarges at 13,400 euros gross monthly" after a revaluation of 22% decided after his arrival in April 2019. Also according to this article, his replacing Jean-Louis Chandellier as deputy general manager, Jean-Louis Chandellier, benefited from a 30% increase in his remuneration, which therefore amounted to 9,600 euros gross. Finally, the online newspaper looked at the compensation awarded to outgoing CEO Catherine Lion after she left management.

Combination of retirement and part-time salary

Remained part-time counselor until September, she had benefited from a base salary of 8,900 euros and a monthly bonus of 6,000 euros, according to the amendment to her employment contract consulted by Mediapart. Retired since October, she now combines her pension with a part-time salary (in particular because she was appointed by the union to sit on the Economic, Social and Environmental Council) for a total amount of 12,500 euros, without this situation of accumulation is unprecedented within the FNSEA, reports Mediapart.

As a reminder, executive officials earned in 2019 the sum 15,140 euros gross monthly for the President and Prime Minister, 10,093 euros for ministers and 9,559 euros for Secretaries of State. A comparison that is not to the taste of the president of the FNSEA, Christiane Lambert, interviewed this Thursday morning at the microphone of France Inter. Denouncing Mediapart's "attacks" on the FNSEA, she said "assuming the salary policy of [our] leaders", highlighting the need for "high-level experts". She also announced that the union will file a complaint for the theft of documents.
